Thank you for making the 4th annual Ford Global Week of Caring a tremendous success.

More than 10,000 Ford employee and retiree volunteers took part in more than 200 projects on six continents. As citizens of the global community, you worked side by side with your colleagues to help make the world a better place.

I am proud and inspired by your contributions.

During Ford Global Week of Caring 2009, Ford volunteers performed more than 35,000 hours of community service work in 42 countries, from Aruba to Austria, China to the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom to the United States. Among the projects:

  • Members of the Ford Volunteer Corps painted an orphanage in Cambodia
  • Repaired a residence for mentally challenged children in Spain
  • Ford volunteers rolled up their sleeves in South Korea to benefit the disabled and elderly
  • In the Dominican Republic, volunteers collected clothing and personal items for needy children
  • On September 11 in the U.S., more than 700 Ford volunteers in 17 states completed community building projects on our third Accelerated Action Day of the year.

At Ford, we are fortunate to have the resources to make a positive impact all over the world we share. Most importantly, we have dedicated and caring volunteers who apply their skills and talent with remarkable results. The Blue Oval shines brightest when we come together to meet a formidable challenge, especially when that challenge is creating a better world.

My congratulations to all of you for a job well done.

MODEL Teams Launched

The creation and launch of the MODEL Teams concept in 2008 is a success story for all Ford volunteers and our agency partners who are making a difference for people across the country. The warm feelings and appreciative smiles that come from helping those in need are always the best rewards for giving back to people in our local communities. MODEL Teams are getting the job done in shelters and schools, children’s homes and soup kitchens, parks and playgrounds. Join us and get behind the wheel of this company-wide effort to help create a better world.

Subject: Ford Accelerated Action Day – November 10

All Americans owe a huge debt of gratitude to our servicemen and women around the world. They protect us at home, defend us overseas and stand guard over our many freedoms around the clock.

We cannot thank them enough for their courage and sacrifice.

On November 10 - our next Accelerated Action Day - dozens of Ford volunteers will join MODEL Teams and go to work in veterans facilities in southeast Michigan and Washington, D.C. Ford employee and retiree volunteers will pack food, help with repairs, and show veterans that we care and appreciate their service to our country. The Ford Volunteer Corps also will provide mini-grants to buy the tools and materials necessary for Ford MODEL Teams to complete their projects.

I would like to invite all Ford salaried employees and retirees to join us on November 10 and help support our veterans and military families.

Thank you for all your volunteer efforts. Day by day, step by step, we are creating a better world and a brighter future as One Ford.
